About Math Intervention Middle and High School students are my favorite age group! They are taking their first steps towards being independent adults. Every day brings a new challenge to explore. I find this age group to be honest, curious, and have an excellent sense of humor. I believe it is my duty to assist them during this critical phase of life. The level of support students are offered could vary throughout the year. All students initially targeted for intervention services begin with 3 days of intervention in approximately 30-40 minute sessions in their area of need. Most required small math groups will meet for 30 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Some High School students will meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Fridays. It is extremely important that your child arrive on time and ready to work. Please make sure your child has a working microphone before coming to class. Students should come to class connect and be prepared to be respectful, responsible, and safe. Here are some of the expectations I have set for all class connect sessions. Please be respectful of each other and each other's work space. Scribbling or deleting other students' work, and inappropriate language will not be tolerated. Please be responsible when you come to class connect. We are there to work and learn, not send emojis and draw pictures instead of completing work. Please be safe when you work online. Do not give out your personal information to anyone in chat (phone numbers, addresses). Here are the consequences for a student that is unable to comply with these expectations: 1. Verbal warning 2. Loss of tools in class connect 3. Moved to the Think Tank Continual disruptive behavior will be removed from class connect and reported to learning coaches and/or school administrator in an email or phone call. Learning Coach/Interventionist Communication I will email and post a newsletter to my Weebly every Friday at the end of the school day. This is an easy way for me to keep you up to date on my weekly schedule, as well as any community events that are taking place. Contact Mrs. T [email protected] (219)359-4274 ext. 7646 http://mrsthompsonsspot.weebly.com/ Sometimes you have a question for me that I didn’t answer in the newsletter. There are two ways you can reach me: Email, and phone. Email is my preferred communication method because then I have a written record of your question to refer back to as I am looking for information to help you! A good habit to get into is to check your Email first thing in the morning when you log in, and last thing in the afternoon when you log out. I am available for help Monday through Friday from 8:00AM – 4:00PM Eastern or 7:00AM – 3:00PM Central time. If you contact me after hours, I will respond as soon as possible the following school day. Please let me know if you have any questions, I look forward to working with you and your family this year! |
